Leaders Always Respect God’s Boundary Lines – Psalm 119

January 24, 2024

Series: Leadership

Scripture: Psalm:119

What God has given me tonight and what I’m going to be ministering on is boundary lines.

Boundary lines. So I look around the room. I see so many people. I know so many people I don’t know.

You’ve been around for a long time. It’s funny you come to church and you come in the door. There are so many new people. They treat you like the visitor. We’re so glad this is your first time.

They don’t know.

Leaders Respect God’s Boundary Lines – Psalm 119

But but to see the church is just growing X potentially, I mean by leaps and bounds with so many new people, and God is doing the work. But he’s also trying to prepare the church for what’s coming.

And I know, I know. Shelby Jones preaches that too.

You, but you’ve got to get ready. You’ve got to prepare yourself. You can only get so much from the preacher. Then you’ve got to get it on your own. You’ve got the Bible, says study to show yourself approved unto God. A Workman that needed not be ashamed, rightly dividing the the word.

And you’ve got to study. You’re not going to stand before God one day and have him say or you’re not going to say ohh the the the preacher didn’t tell me. No, the book is there for you to read.

And if you’re not doing that on a regular basis, I encourage you to do that. Read the word of God through.

I have read the word of God through many times this year. I’m reading it through chronologically and I I told him on the prayer call yesterday that I learned something that I every time you go through the word of God, Lane, something else jumps off the page and and I was studying about David and Saul and maybe you knew this, but.

I didn’t. I didn’t has nothing to do with my message, but it’s too good not to share. Did you know that when David killed Goliath, the giant was dead?

But the Israelites never came under servitude to the Philistines again.

Do you understand what I’m saying? More happened there than Goliath being dead than the wicked Witch being dead, God did a greater work. They would never come under servitude to the Philistines.

And when we submit ourselves to God, the strongholds that are in your lives will come down, and you don’t have to keep fighting it on a daily basis.

You don’t have to do that when he sets you free, you’re free indeed. And and if you keep fighting the same battle all the time, you need to figure out why I’m still old fashioned enough to believe that when you get saved, there is a change.

If there’s not a change, there’s a problem and we need to be figuring it out. Church, we need to be figuring it out. My husband, do you want to say anything?

Man, a few words I’m telling you. OK, let’s just get into the word of God tonight. Boundary lines. Let let’s pray we love you. Lord God, we thank you that you still have a people that love you.

00:03:30

God that have experienced the change and God that want more of you. They want more of you. Lord. The hunger is there. The thirst is there and your word said Lord they that hunger and thirst for righteousness shall be filled. God, I pray that you take this word to night.

00:03:49

It’s not me. It’s not my ability, but God, it’s by and through the spirit. Take this word. God, you know, every heart that needs it and cause them God through this word, to grow will forever give you the praise in Jesus name and everyone said.

00:04:09

Amen. I’m not going to take the time tonight, but when you go home, you can read the 1st 15 verses of Psalm 119. I’m just going to read a couple of verses before I get into the message.

00:04:25

Verse four of Psalm 119 says thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.

00:04:35

Verse 50 that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes.

00:04:42

Verse 15. I will meditate in thy precepts and have respect unto thy ways, and verse 16 I will delight myself in thy statutes. I will not forget thy word. Do we have a book or something I can put under this? Terry, I need it a little bit.

00:05:03

My eyes are playing tricks on me.

00:05:06

What is? What is a precept and what is this? Can you open it? I think it might be a little more secure. Thank you. That’s a little bit better, OK.

00:05:18

What is a precept and what is a statute? A precept is a command or a principle given by an authority.

00:05:27

You could say the 10 Commandments or precepts.

00:05:31

A statute is an act of or by an authority intended as a permanent rule.

00:05:39

Did you know that God has even put the boundary lines on the ocean? What would happen if God hadn’t done that? He set the boundaries on the ocean that it would not.

00:05:56

We our lives are defined. Our lives are defined by boundary lines.

00:06:03

There are boundary lines between countries. When I go from the United States into Mexico, there is a boundary there. There it it’s it’s scary because when you cross that border, there are soldiers with AK-40 sevens and they’re they’re very alert and and waiting.

00:06:22

To see what’s going to happen as each car passes. But you’re. I’m very aware when I switch when I cross over that boundary line.

00:06:33

Our states are separated by boundary lines and we’re very aware of that here. Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, they all come right together, don’t they? And right there is at that tip is about where I live. Cities are separated by boundary lines.

00:06:53

Our residences are separated by boundary lines. Can you imagine the problems you might have with your neighbors if you didn’t know your property lines? We have a realtor in the room. If you don’t know that, she’ll be happy to explain it to you.

00:07:09

Major issues if the boundary lines aren’t known, they’re even boundary lines in international waters or international airspace. You cross that point and all hell can break loose.

00:07:26

We have boundary lines in our personal space. Now. I love people. You can hug me, but when people get a little when they step into that box, Julie, it bothers me. I want to say back up just a little bit. Take it a step or two backward because we have that boundary line drawn.

00:07:48

There are boundary lines of nature.

00:07:52

And we don’t talk enough about it in the church, but I like the way that Pastor Tom puts it.

00:07:59

He’s pretty plain, he says. You can nip it, you can tuck it, you can dress it up, you can paint it up. But at the end of the day, they can take one strand of your hair and tell you what you were when you were born.

00:08:13

There are boundary lines of nature.

00:08:18

There’s boundary lines of logic. What comes up must come down.

00:08:27

1 + 1.

00:08:29

Everybody knows that. But God, I’ll explain that later.

00:08:33

There are boundary lines of emotion.

00:08:36

There’s a fine line between love and hate folks. Fine line.

00:08:43

There are boundary lines of marriage.

00:08:46

What is acceptable?

00:08:48

And what is not acceptable?

00:08:52

There are boundary lines of the law and when you cross those boundary lines you get into a heap of trouble.

00:09:00

Wars are fought to protect boundary lines. We’ve been watching now for more than 100 days. The war with Hamas and and everything that’s happening happening in the Middle East with Israel and the other nations, it’s all because of boundary lines. And Israel has been.

00:09:21

Generous in the past and has given up some of those, they’ve pushed the boundaries back, but they’re still fighting about it today.

00:09:31

Why are boundary lines so important?

00:09:34

Because boundary lines give us a sense of direction.

00:09:39

They help us know where we are.

00:09:43

And where we’re going.

00:09:45

They define our lives so we understand what we can and cannot do.

00:09:52

Boundary lines bring safety, security and peace.

00:09:57

To your life.

00:09:59

Imagine a world with no boundary lines, no limits, no loss like the last verse of the last book of judges that says at that time in the history of Israel, and every man did that which was right.

00:10:18

In his own eyes, there were no boundary lines. Our lives and our world would be in complete chaos.

00:10:29

Without boundary lines and we know how to respect and understand those boundary lines, knowing that if we don’t, there are consequences to pay.

00:10:43

Amen, sister Cindy.

00:10:45

Most of those boundary lines that I have mentioned are invisible.

00:10:51

God in his holy world, word clearly marks boundary lines for us.

00:10:59

And I want to say something and be very clear.

00:11:02

The word of God is not great.

00:11:06

It’s black.

00:11:07

It’s white, it’s clear, and it’s easy to understand.

00:11:15

But we refuse to see those boundary lines and go on excusing our bad behavior.

00:11:25

Amen, sister Cindy.

00:11:28

In the Old Testament, when the when the law, when the land of Canaan was distributed to the people, they had boundaries. That way they were to set up that separated their properties and what they would do, they would they would take piles of stone and and that is the way they.

00:11:48

They they would lie in their boundary with that and that is how they knew what was theirs and what was their neighbors. Sometimes they would do it with big boulders, but the boundaries were clearly marked.

00:12:01

The word of God said thou shalt not remove thy neighbor’s landmark, which they of old time have said in thine inheritance, which thou shall inherit in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess. And Deuteronomy 2717, says, curse it be he that removeth.

00:12:22

His neighbors landmark.

00:12:25

And all the people shall say Amen.

00:12:31

They were given an inheritance. It was forever and those boundary lines were never to be moved. But sometimes a dishonest neighbor would would try to move those boundary lines and when no one was looking and little by little.

00:12:51

They would. They would push those boundary lines back, giving them more property than their neighbor had.

00:12:58

I want to say something to you. The enemy of your soul is the one who seeks to move the boundary lines in your life.

00:13:09

The word of God says be sober, be vigilant because your adversary, the devil as a roaring lion seeking walketh about seeking whom he may devour the word sober means to drink no intoxicants.

00:13:29

Intoxicants, intoxicants, there, I said it.

00:13:34

It means to live righteously.

00:13:39

I still believe that God’s people are held to a higher standard.

00:13:44

Then the world wants to make you think today, and that’s one boundary that that he has tried to to totally wipe off the face of the earth. I sat with the man who is over the Assemblies of God in the state of Kentucky. And do you know what he said to me? He said.

00:14:04

I will tell you the two biggest problems that we face with people in the state of.

00:14:11

Kentucky’s coming into the ministry is #1 drinking.

00:14:17

And #2, they don’t believe in speaking in tongues.

00:14:22

Boundary lines that the enemy is seeking to move.

00:14:28

But the word says be sober, be awake, don’t let anything affect your mind and your thinking, be vigilant. That means to be watchful. Never be off your guard because your adversary.

00:14:47

That means the one who brings the suit against you, your adversary, the devil. He’s been identified as a roaring lion, Seeketh whom he may devour.

00:15:03

Satan wants you to believe that you’re defenseless and that he can walk into your life and change the boundaries whenever, wherever. However, he wants to. But God is raising up an army, and he is raising up ministers in this day with a background that will still declare the whole Council of God.

00:15:26

The Bible says whether or not they hear is not the important thing. It’s that you tell them and and we have got to adhere our lives to the word of God. My my granddaughters amaze me. They’re like Bible scholars and we sit having a.

00:15:46

I’m not kidding.

00:15:48

We sit having dinner and Mariah, who’s 14, she says. She gave me both terms except Jesus and something else. And I said, what is that?

00:15:59

And one of them, one of those terms means that you take the word of God and you try to conform it to your life.

00:16:10

And the other thing, whatever the term was means that you conform your life to the word of God. Does anybody understand what I’m saying? Tonight the world is messed up. You are not called to to make the word of God fit what you think.

00:16:30

It should say or to make you feel comfortable, but we the word of God, see said we are we’re predestined to conform our lives to the image of his son.

00:16:46

You want. You want to know what predestination is? That’s the simple explanation. You were predestined to be conformed to the image of his son. God help us not remove the ancient landmarks and the ancient boundary line.

00:17:06

Let me tell you something, this world is looking for something real. They’ve had everything else and it doesn’t work, but they’re looking for a man and a woman whose life matches what their mouth says.

00:17:24

You can say whatever you want to, but those sinners are watching everything you say and do.

00:17:33

I’m talking about boundary lines tonight boundary lines.

00:17:41

It’s a choice.

00:17:43

James said let no man say when I’m tempted. I’m tempted of God because God cannot be tempted, neither tempted. He any man.

00:17:57

But a man is tempted.

00:18:00

When he is drawn away of his own lust and entice and with lust is conceived, it brings forth sin and sin. When it is finished, who can finish the scripture brings forth.

00:18:18

Death. Let me break this. This passage of scripture down.

00:18:24

Let no man say when he’s tempted, I’m tempted of God.

00:18:28

For God cannot be tempted, neither tempted. He any man, but every man is drawn away of his own lust. What does that mean to be drawn me away means the thought is birthed in your mind.

00:18:45

And whatever that thing is, it begin you begin to think on it and think on it and think on it. You try to resist, you try to get your mind on something else. But if you give away to your flesh, that thought goes even further.

00:19:04

You’re drawn away when it’s just a thought in your mind, but you begin to be enticed.

00:19:13

When you begin to ponder on that thing and you don’t try to dismiss the thought, Steve, but the thought is there and you’re thinking about it and you’re thinking on it, and I don’t know what it might be, it may be a man or a woman or ***********.

00:19:33

Maybe it’s a thought to steal whatever it is. The process is the same. You begin to think about that and you don’t. Don’t get it out of your mind, but you allow your flesh to ponder it and to think on it.

00:19:49

And no longer if you’re not careful, do you have the boundary lines of God to resist and to get rid of that thought? But you begin to have pleasure in it.

00:20:03

And you allow it to draw you further and further and further outside the boundary lines of God.

00:20:12

It goes on to say when lust is conceived.

00:20:17

It brings forth sin.

00:20:20

First, a thought is planted in your head. Then if you don’t get rid of it, you ponder it. You ponder it, you ponder it. You think about it day and night, and then it is conceived. And that’s when the thought goes from here.

00:20:36

To here.

00:20:38

This is when that thought that you have been rehearsing in your mind goes to the next level.

00:20:45

If you don’t get control of your thoughts.

00:20:49

You’ll never be able to overcome sin. Your mind is Satan’s battlefield. When lust is conceived, it’s no longer a thought. But you make a conscious decision to act on whatever it was that was pulling you.

00:21:09

And sin actually takes place. And what does the word of God say in sin when it is finished?

00:21:20

It brings forth.

00:21:25

Remember sin that never happens without consequence.

00:21:31

You might meet that man or that woman and that sleazy hotel room.

00:21:36

But it will end your marriage.

00:21:39

You can watch *********** just one more time.

00:21:44

But it’ll put you in a tailspin that you may never come out of. You can give in to your appetite and to your flesh and take those drugs just one last time and watch your children be put into foster care.

00:22:00

You see, when anything is is outside of its boundary lines, it becomes ugly. It becomes a monster, right? And and one example is when there is a tsunami, when the plates of the ocean floor shift and go out of it, it throws everything out of their boundary lines.

00:22:21

And you’ve seen it. I’ve watched many, many videos about tsunamis and how they come and the destruction and the chaos that ensue after it. That’s what happens when you live outside of the boundary of God’s word.

00:22:38

There won’t be peace.

00:22:43

You can fake it for a while.

00:22:48

But it it’ll get you every time.

00:22:51

If you’re living outside of the boundary lines, it doesn’t matter what I say doesn’t matter.

00:23:00

What I say doesn’t matter what my opinion is.

00:23:05

Probably every person in this room, we could sit down and and share and we would have differing opinions, opinions about things. But what does matter? My Bibles back there. Hold it up, honey. What does matter? Is what that word say.

00:23:21

And that’s what you will be judged by something.

00:23:25

Yeah, if you live outside the boundary.

00:23:29

You will be.

00:23:37

Y’all are preaching me to death.

00:23:47

Thank you.

00:23:49

Give her a bill.

00:23:51

Thank you.

00:23:53

Thank you both.

00:23:59

Ask David.

00:24:01

If sleeping with Bathsheba was worth it.

00:24:08

The child they had died.

00:24:12

As Samson.

00:24:16

If heaven Delilah stroked his hair while his head was in her lap.

00:24:21

Was worth it?

00:24:24

He knew the Nazarite vows that he had taken. He knew the boundary lines. They were clearly marked, but they he chose to go outside of it anyway. And what happened?

00:24:38

He lost his eyesight and he lost his power with God. Don’t think that you can live outside the boundary of the world and be strong in God. It doesn’t work.

00:24:54

God’s looking for a church that lives what the word says. I’m so thankful for my upbringing. I have a pastor, Terry. They taught us the word and above everything they taught us to live. Right. So thankful for that in my life.

00:25:18

Ask Judas Iscariot.

00:25:23

Ask the rich man.

00:25:27

Ask the prodigal son.

00:25:30

I think they’d all tell you the same thing.

00:25:35

God help us tonight.

00:25:42

We lost our youngest grandson tragically in 2017.

00:25:50

I remember when Logan was a little boy, he was the cutest thing. And I remember the day that his dad was going to.

00:26:02

Coaches Little League football team.

00:26:06

And he came to the house and grandma or mall. That’s what they called the Simon Paul. Yes, they did.

00:26:15

My my other grandson’s 29 today. They still call us Mom and Paul.

00:26:20

But he came in and he had all the equipment and he was so excited. And I said, oh, I said, well, what position are you going to play? He said, running back.

00:26:30

And I said Ohh, no, no, no, no, no.

00:26:34

You know, he’s like five years old.

00:26:37

Logan. They wanna kill the man with the ball. You can’t do that. And Tony’s like, don’t tell him that.

00:26:46

When he was 5.

00:26:50

He had no clue what football was about.

00:26:53

He didn’t know the rules.

00:26:57

He didn’t know the statutes. He didn’t know the precepts.

00:27:01

But I promise you, as the years went on.

00:27:06

That his daddy.

00:27:08

Taught him every rule of the game.

00:27:14

And Logan?

00:27:16

Knew the Inns and the outs of football. We would go watch him play as a little boy and and he was fast. He was a good football player and he’d be running down the field with the ball under one him like this. See how close they were.

00:27:34

But he started.

00:27:37

With no understanding shall be.

00:27:41

But as he went on and as he grew his daddy.

00:27:46

Touting the rulebook.

00:27:49

And one thing he learned for sure.

00:27:53

I don’t know. In my old age, I’ve become a football person.

00:27:58

Go chiefs.

00:28:00

I said that on Facebook the other day, and in April, Taylor said. Sister Cindy? Blasphemy.

00:28:09

I said my family lives in Kansas City. What can I say?

00:28:15

But one of the rules of football is there are boundary lines.

00:28:24

And what happens when your foot goes out of bounds?

00:28:32

What happens?

00:28:34

Flags sometimes what else? But what happens when your foot goes over the boundary line?

00:28:43

The game stops.

00:28:48

That’s my point. Listen to me.

00:28:51

When your foot goes.

00:28:53

Over the boundary line.

00:28:56

The game.

00:28:58

Stops. You might keep you want to keep going, you know, step over the line and and and think it’s all OK and keep going and nobody knows and everything’s just OK. But it’s not OK church.

00:29:15

Let me tell you something. Just like in football, when your foot goes over the boundary lines of God’s word, the game stops.

00:29:27

And you’ve gotta get it right. Thank God we have an end of the tent with the father that when we fail and when we sin, we can say, oh, God forgive me.

00:29:39

Help me, Lord, to make it right, but you can’t continue out of the boundary of God.

00:29:56

I’m skipping lots of this, I’m just trying to find the leading of the Lord because.

00:30:02

The message is timely and I said, God, the last thing I want to do is go into this class and have a negative word and speak negatively over your people and leave them with that.

00:30:17

But we are responsible.

00:30:20

As the Ministers of God.

00:30:23

You know, we like to say we’re kings and priests. Then we’ve got to take that responsibility. As the priest of God to make sure that God’s people understand what his laws and his precepts and his statutes.

00:30:46

Why don’t we see healing?

00:30:50

I had that conversation many times with Wayne Shell.

00:30:55

There’s no formula to healing. You can’t say do this, this, this and this, and healing will come. It doesn’t work that way. There are many facets. Every situation is different.

00:31:08

But sometimes I thank God.

00:31:12

Are we living so far outside the boundary line that we can’t claim the fullness of your glory in the midst of your people?

00:31:25

I don’t want to see how far away from the boundary line I can get and still make it, but I wanna see I wanna live right in the line. I don’t wanna have one toenail outside of it.

00:31:39

Because I want to have the blessing of God.

00:31:43

I want to have the anointing of God.

00:31:51

When your foot goes over the boundary line.

00:32:00

The game stops.

00:32:03

Vicky, come to the.

00:32:05

To the keyboard or whoever.

00:32:11

I know it’s heavy.

00:32:16

But it’s necessary.

00:32:20

I find.

00:32:23

Dealing with sinners today.

00:32:27

Everybody’s going to heaven.

00:32:30

Right.

00:32:33

I watch them on Facebook.

00:32:36

Their drug addict friend Odette.

00:32:45

I’ll meet you up there real soon.

00:32:50

Or or.

00:32:52

You know, they they robbed a bank or whatever and died in the process. Everybody’s going to heaven.

00:33:02

But I’ve got news for you.

00:33:05

The only people that are going to make it through the pearly gates.

00:33:09

Or those that live within the boundary line of God’s word. My youngest sister a few years ago.

00:33:18

She was away from God for years.

00:33:22

And she had a dream.

00:33:25

And she said, Cindy, I dreamed that I went to heaven.

00:33:29

And I got right up right.

00:33:31

Up to the gate.

00:33:34

And she said beyond the gate I saw Mom, our mother, she said. I saw her. She was right there and she said she. She looked at me and.

00:33:46

You know, kind of did this and and to make sure if it was her or not. And then she said I saw our mother turn around and walk.

00:33:56

That way, and I was left at the gate and that so shook her up, that she came back to God and God has done a miraculous thing in her life. But that’s what we need. We need a visitation of God in some way in the lives of our loved ones.
