I started this series a couple weeks ago or maybe three or four weeks ago, but I’m going to kind of do a review of what we did before because we got a lot of new folks in here to get everybody on the same page. I’m not going to do an exhaustive teaching tonight on the gifts of Spirit.
My main goal tonight is to mention where the gifts are at and show you in the Bible a few places where we can find the gifts, and then maybe in the coming weeks we’ll kind of go over each of the different gifts of the Spirit. If I get off track, Pastor Lane right here, he’ll hold up the flag, “You’re wrong brother.”
Gifts of the Spirit
We just we just thank God for the the Word of God. The gifts of the Spirit, it’s such a necessary gift that God has given the Church and unfortunately a lot of folks don’t believe in the gifts. Well-meaning people, you know, but, I tell you what, I do believe the Sister Shelby, you know, as long the more deeper we get into this end time, that we’re in we need the gifts of the Spirit more than ever to help us.
There’s such deception out in the World, Church. We’ve got to know the Bible better than we’ve ever known the Word of God, and I understand we’re not going to all agree 100% on Doctrine. You know what I’m saying because look at all the different denominations that we have in the world today. We may not agree 100% on everything, but we’ve got to stand on the Word, Church.
We’ve got to have sound Biblical Doctrine in these end times. Brother Joey said it, “You know there’s going to be deceivers out in the world, and if it were possible the very elect would be deceived, but I believe the Holy Ghost will come and He’s the Spirit of Truth. He’ll lead and guide us into all truth, amen.
But listen, we have to be careful because the devil has his prophets out there teaching and preaching things, tickling their itching ears out there. Listen, I’m telling you what; I’ve been in the church realm long enough I know what to say. I could get you believing almost anything because I know the things to say. I’ve been around and listened to some of the false prophets out there, and let me give you a warning out here.
If you’re following somebody and they’re always elevating their self, you better be careful. If they’re promoting and their wealth, you better be careful. These prophets out here that are saying you can’t have this word unless you give me a thousand dollar seed, beware Church. I don’t see in that anywhere in the Bible where it says that. Give me one example where Jesus said, you know, sow a thousand dollars, sow a seed and then you can have this Word.
No, the Bible says freely we have received to freely give, amen. So, beware, Church, and as a brother in Christ, not even as a minister, but just as a brother, it just upsets me. I don’t want the people of God to be deceived, including myself. This is why we need each other. This is why we have to study to show ourselves approved.
A workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. I want to believe right, Church. I want to believe the Bible Way, amen! Listen, I know when I first started in Christianity as a young believer, I would read the Bible. I didn’t understand it, and I was thinking about that today.
I believe the Lord spoke to me and He said, “But the longer you’re around something, the more you will understand it!” Keep reading it, Church. Keep listening to it. Keep praying. It’s just like learning a foreign language, you know.
When you first start out, you don’t understand. Brother Steadman, Spanish, I know a couple of words, but the longer, if I hung around you for six months, brother, you could teach me Spanish. I’d learn it a lot quicker the more I’d spend time with you. the more it’s gonna make sense to me. Right now it doesn’t because I don’t understand it.
Hallelujah! The more we get our spirit in tune with hearing the voice of God and understanding Scripture right, it’ll come to us. The Holy Ghost will bring back to your remembrance, He’ll quicken, yes, you’ll remember, so get the Word in you, Church! Get the Word of God in you and the Holy Spirit will bring it to your remembrance. He’ll quicken it in your spirit when you need it, amen.
Praise the Lord! So, tonight brother Wayne’s gonna help me on the with some Scriptures over there. I am going to talk about spiritual gifts and, again, this is not an exhaustive exhaustive study tonight, but I just want to bring it to your attention. Like I said, where some of the Scriptures are found, where the gifts of the Spirit are talked about.
We mostly hear about the nine gifts of the Spirit. For many years, I thought nine were all the gifts of the Spirit, but there are more than that. The Scripture talks about more, so that’s why I just want to bring those out to your attention tonight because some of you may have these gifts or maybe have operated a little bit in it, but just didn’t really realize it or understand it, so we’ll we’ll talk about it tonight.
So, the gifts of the Spirit, What is a spiritual gift, Church? Let’s talk about that for a minute. Look the definition up. Different places are going to say slightly a little bit different thing, but this is just a basic definition of a spiritual gift. It’s a special Divine empowerment bestowed on each believer to accomplish a given ministry God’s way, according to His people. Hallelujah!
Why do you think the Holy Ghost came in the book of Acts, Church? The Bible says you shall receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon you. We’re going to need power, Church, in these end times. You know when Jesus resurrected they believed it was the end times. I believe the end times started then, and we’re getting closer and closer and closer and closer to His coming.
Church, I don’t want to miss it. I don’t want any sin in my life. We’ve got to be ready, Church, but God has given us the Holy Ghost. He’s given us the power of the Holy Ghost living inside of us. The Bible says that our bodies are the Temple of the Holy Ghost, amen.I need to live worthy of that. We’ve got to live worthy of that.
If you came into the house of God and you saw a bunch of graffiti all over in vulgar language and vulgar music, what would you say? This is a blasphemy! Wouldn’t you say what kind of church is this? What is this garbage going on? We have to be careful that we don’t allow that old enemy to come in and pollute our lives; pollute these temples with things of this world. Amen! Hallelujah! Praise God!
A spiritual gift, I read that it’s a gift of grace. Spiritual gifts are abilities that God uniquely gives to those who believe in Him. These spiritual gifts are not for unbelievers, Church. Now, people are born with natural abilities. There’s some people that are born with amazing gifts of music and singing. Look at the music industry out there.
There’s some musicians and singers that are phenomenal out there, but you know, a lot of times, God can take their natural abilities and anoint that with the power of the Holy Spirit, and that gift of evangelism or whatever, how He chooses to move through folks that get saved when the Holy Ghost gets involved. Chains will break off, Hallelujah! Yokes will be destroyed in the name of Jesus! My goodness, Thank You Lord!
These spiritual gifts are not given to unbelievers. The purpose of these gifts of the Spirit has to do with Christian service. Christians use the gifts pf the Spirit to further the ministry of Jesus Christ upon this earth. Amen!
