Guard Your Heart – Fix The Problem – Proverbs 4:23

January 10, 2024

Topic: prayer

Scripture: Proverbs 4:23

I want to tell you why you need the Psalms.

I mean, it’s clear all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable. So it is, but right there in the heart of the Scripture, right in the heart of the Bible, He put this.

And I just want to tell you, without the Psalms there, I don’t think the rest of the Scripture could be.

I don’t know. Born even without the Psalms. Maybe some of you don’t know that yet.

Guard Your Heart – Fix The Problem – Proverbs 4:23

Pastor Steve Rust

But let me tell you why you need the Psalms. By the way, you could just skip this whole class and go home and watch Sunday night’s preaching when he preached and told a lot about Psalm 3.

YouTube player

Thou, Lord, are a shield for me. Now. What he didn’t tell you cause he didn’t think of it.

But I’ve listened to it so many times, he didn’t tell you that while he was sitting in his office.

The Lord told him that Psalm 3 would be the Psalm that carried him and carried us through the end times. That’s what he said 40 years ago to pastor be the Psalm that carried us through the end times. But here’s why you’re going to need the Psalms.

And I can only speak from personal experience and hopefully it will apply to someone I’m sitting around at home all the time.

And I try to hide it because I know Pam’s going to go. Oh, that’s so sweet.

And you know, same guy that wanted to tie his own shoe. But I’ll be sitting around and watching something stupid and just break out in, in, in tears. It’ll happen now and weeping and weeping. Just break out. And I got worried about it.

I was heard like, Oh my goodness, I hope it’s not my blood pressure.

OK, Mr. Mr. and Mrs. Super spiritual you. You would have immediately, you know, whatever. But I was thinking it’s something the matter with me and the Lord said. I heard him clear.

Then he said no, Steve, that’s just what’s inside of you trying to get out. It’s trying to get out.

And that’s for you. This is the year of that for you. What’s inside of you?

Trying to get out trying to get out Amen and it will. This is your year. The Lord wants a return on what he’s put into you. It’s time.

To give him that return and not just bury it. If you bury it it, it’ll do all kinds of things to your.

Mind, you’ll stand around and uncertainty. Or should I have said this? Should I have said that? I mean, it’ll drive you nuts.

It will drive you nuts. That’s why I really like to come up to this room. We have the best prayer meetings in your room.

The upper room.

00:03:08

I don’t want to embarrass anybody, but this young man sitting right here, I forgot your first name.

00:03:16

He was baptized in the Holy Ghost up here Tuesday, Tuesday, he laid right there and and I’m sure the devil’s told you by now that it wasn’t real or something, but it was as real as it gets, my friend. It was as real. So you have a.

00:03:33

You have a good.

00:03:34

Room the Holy Ghost is is here. I would just as soon sit around and listen to some of these young people teach up here because it’s so cool to see the gifts that God.

00:03:43

Has put in people. It’s just so cool.

00:03:48

Who’s the young man that’s been coming to prayer, meeting the tall young man? He’s he’s a black young, black man. He had. He’s the one that had the diabetes. Real bad, was healed.

00:04:01

Yeah. Brenda, yeah. He he said something every day. And my reaction was that’s the coolest thing I’ve ever heard. But I was so happy to see something come out of.

00:04:11

A young person like that, and I would be glad, but that’s why you you need the Psalms this year because the devil is not going to want these things to come.

00:04:22

Out of you.

00:04:24

He knows better than you do what’s in you. The Devil knows far better than you do what’s in you.

00:04:31

Now I was going to play a video from some of you may have seen it before, young lady on America’s Got Talent. No, I don’t watch. I just happen to see the.

00:04:41

Video and please don’t rush up here with oil and that to pour it over me for watching television or something. It’s good for Christians to get on there sometime.

00:04:52

And and sing the songs of the Lord. But if you ever want to see something really cool, look up on on YouTube, Esther.

00:04:59

Esther singing a song or whatever. Oh, it’s just so beautiful, but.

00:05:05

It touches your heart and that’s that’s what we’re going to talk about tonight, the heart.

00:05:11

You’re going to need the Psalms because it will help you.

00:05:14

Guard your heart.

00:05:16

You gotta guard your heart. Now the hearts mentioned 826 times in the Bible.

00:05:23

So it must be fairly important, I would think. But Proverbs says keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.

00:05:36

That’s pretty good, but let me read the NIV. It says above all else, guard your heart for everything you do flows from it.

00:05:47

Oh my goodness. Everything you do flows from the heart, and that’s what psalms is all about. Now, David was a mighty man of God.

00:06:00

Amen. Amen. Thank you.

00:06:04

He killed the lion, the bear. Some say. I think with his bare hands.

00:06:10

He killed Goliath. Who was, I think, well over 9 feet tall.

00:06:16

He was anointed king before all of his brethren.

00:06:22

But when he went up on the rooftop one night.

00:06:26

He didn’t guard his heart.

00:06:30

Now, even though the Lord himself said that David was a man after God’s own heart.

00:06:36

That was cool the other day thinking about God having a heart. Well, of course he has a heart. But I wonder, you know?

00:06:44

Your mind can just go all kinds of places there. God has a heart and God said that David was a man after his own heart. He didn’t guard it.

00:06:53

So got in a.

00:06:53

Lot of trouble.

00:06:55

I mean terrible, terrible, terrible trouble. Now, what’s this mean? For you and me?

00:07:03

In my own language, it means that you can be the baddest thing in the Kingdom.

00:07:09

You can do great exploits for the Lord. Everyone might think you’re the greatest thing since sliced bread.

00:07:17

But if you don’t guard your heart, you can easily fall into disaster. Happens all the time. I mean, we can sit here and we don’t want to do it. We can name the preachers who did it and.

00:07:28

Whoever, whoever did it.

00:07:31

Now, what does it mean to guard your heart?

00:07:35

Well, I can probably explain that best in the songs of I think I learned in Sunday school when I was just a little kid. But sometimes those songs are really applicable or applicable to adults. You guard your heart by oh, be careful.

00:07:55

Little eyes. What you see old. Be careful. Little ears. What you hear?

00:08:01

Ohh, be careful. Little tongue. What you say? Well, there’s a good when we ought to stop there for a while. Hallelujah. Be careful, little tongue. What you say?

00:08:14

They tell me that when you speak something that just goes out there and stays forever, a lot of stuff I’d like.

00:08:19

To have back.

00:08:23

Amen, brother Steve. Me too. Yes. Oh, be careful, little hands. What you do? Oh, be careful. Little feet where you go.

00:08:32

That’s how you guard your heart. Now, somebody might say I thought you were going to preach on the Book of Psalms and.

00:08:40

Not all this stuff about the heart, but the heart is mentioned 119 times in the Book of Psalms.

00:08:48

And about nine of those, it says.

00:08:50

My whole heart, my whole heart.

00:08:55

Psalm 84 says.

00:08:57

My heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

00:09:05

These sounds are like old friends.

00:09:08

Even just quoting that I can, I can just kind of feel it.

00:09:12

Psalm 1/19/11 says thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.

00:09:22

I won’t sin if I have his word there.

00:09:25

Psalm 5110 says create in me a clean heart.

00:09:32

Don’t you want to have a clean heart?

00:09:36

And renew a right spirit within me. I’ve had to pray that one a lot renew a right spirit within me.

00:09:46

Psalm 3418 says the Lord is 9 and the Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.

00:09:55

Yeah, Psalm 73 six says my flesh and my heart faileth. But God is the strength of my heart.

00:10:06

Hallelujah. You want to know, God, this is where you’re going.

00:10:11

To find him.

00:10:14

And right smack dab in the heart of the Bible are these psalms. They are meant to touch your heart.

00:10:23

They are meant to touch your heart.

00:10:26

And you have to guard this heart, folks.

00:10:29

They are meant to be sung, really, but I’m not gonna sing.

00:10:35

They’re most powerful. That’s what they were made for is singing.

00:10:39

And they’re meant to be spoken out loud. If you want to pray the Psalms, you can mark a you take notes #1 when you pray the Psalms.

00:10:48

Prime out loud. At least that much. You can sing them if you try. I mean, I’m sure the Lord has heard.

00:10:57

Interesting singing before in the the New Testament is full of the Psalms.

00:11:04

We can look into psalms and find.

00:11:07

By the way, even the devil quoted the Psalms when he was talking tempting Jesus. He’d misquoted.

00:11:14

But even he knew the power of his sums. They’re like a mirror.

00:11:18

The sums you want to find yourself find yourself. You’ll find yourself in the Psalms. You won’t always like what you find, but it be good for me. It’d be good for me.

00:11:29

Ohh created me a clean heart. O God Renew a right spirit within me.

00:11:35

Then it goes cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.

00:11:43

Psalms are powerful, and the Psalms you can find every human tragedy. Everyone you’ve had, every worry, every victory, every defeat, every strength, every weakness, every anger, every desperation, every love, every passion.

00:12:01

To me, and I I I say this carefully, but.

00:12:06

Praying in the Psalms in a way is like praying in the Holy Ghost.

00:12:11

Now in Romans 8 it says.

00:12:14

Sometimes we don’t know how to pray as we ought to ever been there. I don’t know what to pray about something.

00:12:21

You know, Lord, should I call down fire on him? Maybe. Maybe have mercy. Or sometimes you want to, right? You know I’ll show you.

00:12:32

But we don’t know how to pray as we ought. And so we pray in the spirit or in tongues.

00:12:38

Are with Moanings and groanings. It says things like that.

00:12:43

But I found the same thing to be true.

00:12:44

Of the psalms.

00:12:46

Sometimes when I don’t know how to pray.

00:12:49

I can pray Assam not just anyone necessarily, but you’ll get familiar with them as you go through.

00:12:57

Ohh what a great adventure tomorrow to start with Psalm 1.

00:13:03

Saying it out loud, saying it out loud and don’t worry, it’s not a race to the end. You can stop anywhere in the middle because the Lord may speak to you it in the first verse.

00:13:17

The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want, and it might hit you. Oh, my goodness. Lord. You’ve been such a shepherd to me.

00:13:25

So feel free to stop and dwell there.

00:13:29

But go through it.

00:13:32

The Psalms works like that for me. Also, you can find yourself and pray the right words.

00:13:40

Psalms I said are like very old and very close friends. You can run to in time and need.

00:13:47

I’ll guarantee you there’s a whole lot of days when I wake up and feel. I just feel really lousy in the mornings. Anybody else feel lousy in the mornings? OK? I mean, you know, I mean, there may be some of you here who jump out of bed all cheerful. And. And I mean, I hate those people like that. I mean, you know, they’re all cheerful and bubbly and whatever, like.

00:14:07

Ohh my, I don’t hate him, but you know one yourself, don’t you? There we go. I’m sure she’s.

00:14:15

But I don’t sleep well and I feel lousy in the morning, but I know.

00:14:20

That if I click on that YouTube thing and hear that preacher from independence going thou, oh Lord, our shield for me, oh, I feel better all of a sudden.

00:14:34

I feel better using that song.

00:14:37

Now, I don’t always do it, because sometimes I want to dwell there and and just feel lousy.

00:14:46

Such where are some of you? I deserve to feel rotten and miserable for a while. I deserve to be mad for a while. I deserve to pout for a while.

00:15:00

Don’t tell me you you’re not there sometimes.

00:15:03

I’m so mad at my husband or my wife. I’m just gonna be mad.

00:15:08

He’s got it coming. You can dwell there if you want.

00:15:15

But you’ll be like those lepers around, some area sitting out at the fire and couldn’t even get into the city. And that’s where they were going to die.

00:15:23

Except one day, one of them said.

00:15:27

Why sit here until we die?

00:15:30

So you can either.

00:15:32

Do something about it in the sobs, or you can have a.

00:15:35

Seat with the lepers.

00:15:38

Which is not a good picture at all. You can you can do that because I know, I know. And the Lord knows I know.

00:15:48

I know he knows, I know.

00:15:51

And I had this sign right there. When I get up, I someday you’re going to go by over there and you’re going to see some old white haired man out in the backyard burning a sign there but.

00:16:03

The sign is not scripture, but it’s sort of.

00:16:05

Like it?

00:16:06

The sign says.

00:16:08

The problem is not the problem.

00:16:12

Your attitude about the problem is the problem.

00:16:16

Now think about reading that every morning like.

00:16:20

So this is my fault, Lord, and he’ll say yes.

00:16:27

Don’t believe it? And and I hope it’s not being unkind about God. But I think sometimes you hear we hear things differently from from God. We all process the word in our minds a little differently. I don’t know. You know what I mean? We we’re different kind of people.

00:16:42

But when I’m doing that and getting up like that and refusing.

00:16:48

To do something about it in the Book of Psalms, I hear the Lord say something like.

00:16:54

Steve, you’re really pathetic.

00:16:57

Get the sounds out.

00:16:59

That’s the way I hear it.

00:17:01

That’s the way I interpret. I maybe God doesn’t speak like that. Forgive me if I hurt somebody’s feelings, but because I know that’s exactly what it is. I’m being pathetic. I don’t have to dwell there. I don’t have to dwell there. Maybe you could word it better.

00:17:20

When I have failed and sinned.

00:17:25

Which we occasionally do. I can run to my friend Psalm 51.

00:17:32

Have mercy upon me. O God, according to thy loving kindness, according to the multitude of thy tender mercies, blot out my transgression.

00:17:43

And here’s the here’s the important part for I acknowledge my transgressions. I acknowledge them, Lord, and my sin is before me against thee. And thee only have I sinned and done this evil in thy sight you’ll repent if you pray that if you need to.

00:18:02

What a good friend that is.

00:18:06

When I think God must have surely forgotten all about me.

00:18:10

Ever been there?

00:18:13

I don’t know you’ve you’ve done such a good job, brother Taylor. And here these people are.

00:18:18

This, they’re right on top of the Kingdom.

00:18:21

I don’t know. Maybe that’s my special gift, Steve Coomer said. It was was my great willingness to humiliate myself.

00:18:29

That’s OK, that’s OK. In the morning, when you remember that, I’m going to be forgiven and.

00:18:36

And feeling great. But when I feel like God has forsaken me.

00:18:40

I can run to Psalm 13.

00:18:43

How long wilt thou forget me, O God, forever.

00:18:47

How long wilt thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel and my soul having sorrow in my heart daily? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

00:18:58

Consider and hear me, O Lord. My God. Lighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death. Sometimes you think you’re going to die.

00:19:05

Psalm 13 will help you with that.

00:19:09

I always remember the phrase when the phones were coming out. Whatever you needed, they said. Well, there’s an app for that, I think. And when you place that, there’s a sound for that.

00:19:21

When I need mercy, Psalm 57 is my friend.

00:19:25

Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me for my soul trusteth in thee. Yeah, in the shadow of thy wings. Will I make my refuge until these calamities be overpassed.

00:19:36

Mercy you can find in in the Book of Psalms.

00:19:40

When I’m really desperate for the Lord, you ever been just like, Oh my goodness. I have to get to God.

00:19:46

Psalm 63 said ohh God, thou art my God early will I seek thee.

00:19:53

My soul thirsts for thee. Listen to this. My flesh, longest for thee and a dry even. My flesh longs for God. Sometimes I want to feel you.

00:20:04

Psalm 63.

00:20:06

When I think God’s been rather mean to me, ever think like, you know, Lord, can you lighten up a little?

00:20:14

Amen. One person. Thank you, Carla. Thank you. You’re the best. All right. You and me, dear all.

00:20:21

Right.

00:20:22

These other people, I don’t know what their problem is.

00:20:28

When I questioned God about his treatment of me, this was a great revelation.

00:20:34

I remember Joby Brady preached this down at the little church down the road.

00:20:40

But Psalm 66 says, for thou, O God, has proved us.

00:20:46

You have tried us as silver as tried.

00:20:50

You brought me into a net. You laid affliction upon my loins. You caused men. God did this to me. You caused men to ride over our heads. Lord, you made me go through fire and water. But.

00:21:05

You brought me out into a wealthy place.

00:21:10

OK.

00:21:12

Is anybody understanding a little?

00:21:15

About these psalms.

00:21:19

Now the most one of the most important things about the Psalms.

00:21:24

OK, where’s Timmy? Timmy, if I go a little too long here, just about 8:20, just do something or you know you’re. You’re my friend. Aren’t you all right? Oh, I know Jay will.

00:21:34

Do it, yes.

00:21:37

He’s actually my nephew, but that’s an old story. I’m not telling you. All right.

00:21:43

I claim him, I guess.

00:21:49

The Psalms are necessary.

00:21:54

Because of our heart and our mind also now in Romans 12/2 it says and be not conformed to this world.

00:22:03

But BE transformed.

00:22:08

By the renewing of your mind.

00:22:11

OK, be transform. Now. That ain’t your heart. That’s your mind. But your heart can help with that. You can have a good heart and believe I mean, and have a good heart and and and have given your heart to Jesus. But then sometimes your mind can be well, you know what? That sounds pretty good even though I’ve.

00:22:29

Been really stupid.

00:22:31

It says.

00:22:33

OK.

00:22:35

By the renewing of your mind, now you can renew your mind in general.

00:22:41

Through the Psalms, but you can renew it.

00:22:46

At the moment in the Psalms you understand what I’m saying. Now renewed means this. If you look it up in the old Greek from the Bible, get your strong strong concordance out, renew and renewing of your mind means a renewal.

00:23:05

A renovation or a complete change for the better.

00:23:10

Sometimes don’t you need a complete change for the better? Sometimes I’m going along with feelings that I know are not right.

00:23:19

I know we’re not right. You know, sometimes I’m going along with things I know I need to pray about.

00:23:26

And I sometimes I do it, sometimes I refuse.

00:23:30

And then I take a seat with the lepers.

00:23:34

You see, when I pray the Psalms, my heart and my mind, no matter what condition they’re in.

00:23:40

No matter what the circumstances are, no matter what I’m facing, my heart and my mind can be united with God’s heart.

00:23:50

With God’s heart, you’re going to find God’s heart in the psalms. You’ll find him and renewed. I can get through those things, which makes God kind of foreign to me. Like, where are you?

00:24:06

And actually grow so much closer to him.

00:24:10

I can go on and on and on about these things.

00:24:15

Here’s what I would do if I.

00:24:16

Were you?

00:24:20

It’s a good thing to memorize the Psalms, and you know some.

00:24:24

I’m sure you everybody in here and some of you may already have your way of praying that is sort of different from what we’re talking about. I mean, you know, I’m Pastor Thompson preaching and teaching on Monday and Tuesday. The the call to prayer.

00:24:41

But I want to tell.

00:24:42

You something?

00:24:44

And these are these the last days.

00:24:47

I’ve heard that my whole life and about 99% of the time up until recently I went in my mind like, Oh yeah, blah, blah, blah. I’ve heard that all my life.

00:25:00

Because you hear something 1000 times and don’t see it, but I the past year and now it’s like, Oh my goodness.

00:25:09

Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. There’s such an expectancy. Such an expectancy, and you’re going to need the Psalms.

00:25:21

Two or three things you can do. One is I’ve got this little book that’s just nothing but the Psalms.

00:25:28

You can sit down tomorrow. You don’t have to have any number that you have to get through. Start with #1.

00:25:37

You’d be amazed at what you might find in an old Psalm that you’ve heard since you were a little kid.

00:25:43

You’d be amazed at what God will reveal to you.

00:25:47

The second thing is don’t worry about getting through the Psalm. Let it speak to you.

00:25:53

A third thing is tell God if if I’m not breaking through to you tonight, just say Lord, that old man said. If I get down and pray the songs, you’ll speak to me. That’s good enough that God will get that and say I want you to speak through me to me through this Psalm.

00:26:12

And the second, the last thing is you just you just have to do it.

00:26:16

And the reason is in these last days.

00:26:22

You must pray.

00:26:25

You must pray.

00:26:29

Can I say that again? You must pray.

00:26:35

In some form in some manner, you don’t have to pray the way I do.

00:26:41

I find it hard sometimes to keep up with Pastor Tom.

00:26:45

But that’s OK. I try and I’m getting there. But you must pray now. This little book I gave you may be a help to you in your prayer life.

00:26:56

Can I move a little bit? Is the evil eye following me there?

00:27:05

Is a copy of Psalm 91.

00:27:10

By the way, I have a habit of teaching in a way that people don’t want to contribute. Sometimes that’s some teaching high school for 32 years, and if you if you give them a chance, something bad will happen.

00:27:22

But feel free to raise your hands and maybe you’ve had a good experience with the Psalms.

00:27:28

Psalm 91 actually says he that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high, but I hope you forgive me. I’ve made it more personal for me.

00:27:38

And I’ve changed all the pronouns, but it still comes out the same way. Don’t cast me into the pit.

00:27:45

And here’s what I do. I don’t just read it, but I declare it.

00:27:50

Declare it.

00:27:52

You understand the difference? I declare it.

00:27:55

That’s how it will get through to you. I say I will dwell in the secret place of the most high. I shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

00:28:07

I will say of the Lord you are my refuge and my fortress. My God. And you will I trust. Surely you shall deliver me from the snare of the Fowler and from the noisome pestilence. You shall cover me with your feathers and under your wings. Shall I trust your truth shall be my shield.

00:28:27

Butler, I’ll not be afraid of the terror by night.

00:28:30

You can say it with me if you like. I’ll not be afraid of the terror by night. Nor the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor of the destruction that waste at noon day 1000 shall fall at my side and 10,000 at my right hand. But it shall not come.

00:28:51

Deny me. Let’s. We’ll stop there.

00:28:55

Ohh yeah yeah, it gets even. It gets even better. Gets even better.

00:29:01

If you want a really personal one.

00:29:04

See, we’re finding God here. This is what he’s like.

00:29:08

This is what he’s like. This is what the Lord put there. If you want something really personal.

00:29:14

Nobody seems to understand you. Nobody.

00:29:17

Seems to know anything about you. Nobody pays any attention to me. Go to go to Psalm 139. Ohh my goodness.

00:29:27

O Lord, thou hast searched me and known me.

00:29:30

Now notice my down sitting in mine uprising and understandeth my thoughts afar off.

00:29:38

Thou compasses my path and my lying down, and you’re acquainted with all my ways. There’s not a word in my tongue. But LO, Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind. There’s goodness and mercy back there too. Remember. All right now has sent. I lost my way.

00:29:58

Yeah, but yeah, that has to be set me behind him before and laid thy hand up.

00:30:04

On me feels good to have somebody. Yeah. Oh, go to Psalm 139. You want something personal? You want to get near? God. Oh, my goodness.

00:30:15

The Psalms will tell you everything.

00:30:19

Let’s try 1.

00:30:21

All right, I know it’s Wednesday night and we’re. Yeah, we’re about ready to go here. Let’s do one together. What? What’s a good one?

00:30:28

23.

00:30:30

Everybody knows that, all right.

00:30:32

And if God speaks to you, tell us what he speaks or or not. Will this quote a good sound?

00:30:38

Are you ready? The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restores my soul.

00:30:51

He leadeth me in paths of righteousness for his namesake. Yeah. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou prepares the table before me.

00:31:11

In the presence of mine enemies, thou and knowing test my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever. Now we’re doing it corporately.

00:31:29

But you’re going to be alone in your prayer closet or wherever you go, and it’ll be even more personal. You’ll be alone with the Savior.

00:31:39

I saw a picture on Facebook. Yes, that’s another one of my things I get on there sometimes. It’s a great place to get on there and build people up. Amen. See the cool thing about Facebook? Here’s the best platform in the whole world for spreading the gospel and it’s provided.

00:32:00

By the devil.

00:32:06

Isn’t that the coolest thing now? I forgot what my original point was, but.

00:32:11

All right.

00:32:13

But it is a great place for that so.

00:32:18

I don’t want to keep going on. There’s some psalms on the back that are particularly moving.

00:32:24

And you might want to try priming the pump. We said a little bit at the beginning. I just start out with those Lord your Jehovah said can do my righteousness.

00:32:33

After you do it for a while, you might.

00:32:34

Not get past that.

00:32:36

You might not get past the Lord. You are my righteousness or Lord your Jehovah Shama, my ever present.

00:32:44

Oh, you may not get that’s OK if you don’t get past that, that’s alright. If you connect with God.

00:32:50

Amen. Well, I could go on about the Psalms forever. They’re like.

00:32:56

Great friends.

00:32:58

I think the Lord gave them to me.

00:33:02

In a special way, because of the ministry that I was in.

00:33:07

Seeing so many bad things.

00:33:11

Seeing so many, some of I know you guys understand that seeing so many bad things. So I I needed that because when I I went to see people in the hospital.

00:33:21

And I want it to be like Jesus and feel their infirmities.

00:33:26

And I couldn’t.

00:33:28

And so I felt guilty about that.

00:33:31

Lord, I just want to see this person terrible pain, cancer or whatever, and I feel nothing hardly. And I wanted to feel their infirmities. But the Lord said, don’t be silly. Steve. You you couldn’t handle all that. It would kill you. But here’s another way.

00:33:46

Here’s another way right here where you can feel I need feel something once in a while.

00:33:51

OK, I’m just an old Baptist boy and I got hooked into this Holy Ghost stuff and I like it.

00:33:58

Well, my first instance was Pam got me to go to church and.

00:34:05

Well, when we came up here, it was kind of give me two more minutes.

00:34:10

When we came up here.

00:34:12

Brother Clint Dendam was preaching, if you remember Brother Clendenon, he preached awfully hard.

00:34:19

So Pam finally got me to go to church, and when we left, she said.

00:34:23

She was really excited because I went and she said, well, what do you think? And I said well.

00:34:28

According to that guy, most of the world’s.

00:34:30

Going to hell.

00:34:31

And I said According to him, a good bit of it’s my fault. So that was Burt. But.

00:34:41

I was introduced to the Holy Ghost.

00:34:45

When we went to the little church down the road after you guys.

00:34:47

Had moved up.

00:34:47

Here and Pam was there.

00:34:51

And she was born in this stuff. When Pastor talks about the beginning and the Pansy Mackay coming up and about the beans and.

00:35:00

She’s sitting up on the in that picture on the balcony or on the battle platform back here. If you look on the 1st row, there’s some elegant looking man. He’s got his arm around this little girl, probably because she’s being bad.

00:35:11

And that’s my future wife there at at 8. Ohh yeah. Oh yeah, that’s my future wife. Yeah. And then one day she came walking into.

00:35:22

Oh, by the way, you weren’t the only one who messed up at Cherokee Bowl. Sorry, sister. You’re legendary.

00:35:33

But she came walking in there and I was there with a bunch of my friends. I’m sure up to no good at all. Actually. I I can tell you for a fact up to no good. And she came walking in with a bunch of friends and they introduced her to me. I learned later because they said we know this really cool guy. He’s got a good car and.

00:35:52

He works.

00:35:57

And he works and I kind of challenged her. I said it wasn’t my dashing good looks just because I have a car and I work. And I remember her words perk. Some women find that very attractive in a man. Amen. Amen.

00:36:12

Go on your adventure in the Book of Psalms. Try it out. Give it a try. You know what the Bible says? Try me. Try me with tithing. That try me. Give it a try. And if it takes a while to work. All right, try me. You may find the greatest change in your emotional life that you’ve ever found before.
